Life imitates Art far more than Art imitates Life

This series explores the notions of bias that exists in the working world today. We as humans have been identifying and messaging our beliefs for thousands of years with our bodies, we as humans have leveraged fashion as a form of status and desirability for thousands of years, yet we have arrived at a place whereby these two notions struggle to exist side by side. ‘Perception is reality’ is a term that has become common with the realms of the workplace. Within the corporate career world people’s assumptions and stereotypes of those in the workforce, who display on any level, skin art, are perceived to be a part of counter culture, a society of degenerates or uncivilized members of society who are unable to be part of the career elite. Deemed to not fit the corporate brand. This body pf work sets to challenge that, juxtaposing careerists who have successful careers who subscribe to the identification and messaging of skin art.

The Package

This is a set of working prints of used during portfolio reviews and planning for the final exhibition. The final hanging plan for this show utilized a metal message board and had the photographs printed on magnetic photographic paper. The idea was to take the project to its battleground and treat it like a workplace notice board.
